Dette var under overgangen frå Jack the Lad til kva enn eg vart etterpå, på reisa til der eg er no. Deep Purple satte i gang ein stor forandring i livet mitt, så eg måtte tenke på korleis eg kunne takle det.

Eg hadde byrja å meditere cirka eit år før og var byrja å få dreisen på det. Ganske primitivte og ulærde greier til å byrje med, men der var eit hint av håp i det eg tok litt kontroll over levemåten min; da eg var ganske sikker på at eg visste allt, inntil dette punktet - ah, ungdommens dumskap.

Når eg reflekterar no, hadde mesteparten av dei tidlige låtane ein kjærkommen naivitet kring dei. Og dette forsøket på å viske vekk min mørke side var ganske oppløftande. Sjølvsagt, Mr. Yin og Mrs. Yang kranglar forsatt over tankane mine, men mitt alter ego har tatt kontroll over oppførselen min - det har tatt lengre tid enn forventa, men eg nærmar meg.
